JAKARTA: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has issued a presidential decree to set up a development investment arm under sovereign wealth fund Danantara, according to a copy of the decree made public late on Sunday.

Danantara, which Prabowo set up in February 2025 and reports directly to the president, currently has two units: Danantara Asset Management, which oversees operations of over 1,000 state companies, and Danantara Investment Management, which operates as an investment company that seeks to maximise returns, using dividends from those state firms.

Here are details of the new decree:

* It calls for the establishment of a new investment arm "for national development and public services that have social and economic impacts".

* The investment arm could request funds from the state budget, which would be considered an equity injection.

* The decree did not provide details of any projects that the fund could invest in.

* Prabowo signed the decree on April 8, but the regulation was only uploaded to the government's regulation registry late on Sunday. - Reuters
