Oppstar wins AI chip contract

PETALING JAYA: Semiconductor firm Oppstar Bhd has entered into a design service agreement with a technology venture based in Yokohama, Japan, to design and develop a reconfigurable artificial intelligence (AI) chip solution for a fee of RM11.5mil.

The company expects to fulfil the agreement within 20 months, with any changes to the scope requested by the client that impact engineering effort or schedule to require a written amendment and revised pricing/schedule agreed upon by all parties.

The client, which specialises in edge AI solutions, develops proprietary hardware designs and software tools that enable complex AI models to operate directly on devices for real-time processing in sectors such as infrastructure and industrial automation.
