Bumi Armada 1Q net profit drops to RM40mil

The company said revenue for the quarter fell to RM306.56mil from RM473.96mil a year earlier.

KUALA LUMPUR: Bumi Armada Bhd posted a lower net profit of RM40.11mil in the first quarter ended March 31, 2026 (1Q26), compared with RM182.76mil a year earlier.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, the company said revenue for the quarter fell to RM306.56mil from RM473.96mil a year earlier, according to Bernama.

The weaker performance was mainly due to lower contributions from Armada Kraken floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) and Armada Olombendo FPSO, partly offset by lower finance costs.

“The operations segment’s revenue declined mainly due to lower revenue from Armada Kraken FPSO following the commencement of the annual option period charter in April 2025 at a lower charter rate, as well as lower finance lease revenue from Armada Olombendo FPSO, it said.

“Finance lease revenue for year-to-date 2026 decreased due to the accounting treatment of finance leases, where revenue declines over time despite stable charter payments,” it said.

Bumi Armada chief operating officer Alexander Brigden said the group continued to operate safely across its fleet, recording zero lost time incidents in 1Q26.

“Our improving financial position enables us to actively bid for new projects, and buoyant market conditions are providing quality opportunities,” he said.

On prospects, Bumi Armada said it plans to aggressively pursue charter extensions for selected vessels while bidding for new projects.
