Maxis unit issues RM1bil sukuk


Maxis said the proceeds will be used for debt refinancing, capital expenditure and general working capital requirements.

KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Bhd’s wholly- owned subsidiary, Maxis Broadband Sdn Bhd (MBSB), has issued two new series of sukuk murabahah, totalling RM1bil in nominal value, pursuant to its unrated sukuk murabahah programme.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, Maxis said MBSB issued two RM500mil sukuk murahabah, with a tenure of seven years and 10 years respectively, adding that the proceeds will be used for debt refinancing, capital expenditure and general working capital requirements.

The telecommunications service provider said the issuances were part of RM10bil unrated sukuk murabahah programme MBSB established on June 29, 2016.
