Malakoff inks PPAs for gas plants

PETALING JAYA: Malakoff Corp Bhd, via subsidiaries GB3 Sdn Bhd and Segari Energy Ventures Sdn Bhd, has executed new power purchase agreements or PPAs with Tenaga Nasional Bhd for the extension of operations for the 429MW open cycle gas turbine GB3 power plant and the 1,303MW combined cycle gas turbine SEV power plant in Lumut, Perak.

In a statement, Malakoff said the renewal of the Lumut power plants was achieved through its success in securing extensions for its three gas‑fired power plants following the Energy Commission’s Category 1 proposal for the extension of existing gas‑fired generation assets, confirmed in January this year.

It said its Prai power plant in Penang was the earliest to receive an extension, commencing on April 9, 2026 and running until March 31, 2030.
