Padini says none detained in MACC probe are employees or management

KUALA LUMPUR: Padini Holdings Bhd said none of the eight individuals detained in a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation are its employees, officers or management personnel.

“Padini wishes to clarify that none of the individuals detained are its employees, officers, or members of its management,” the fashion retailer said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

Padini added that it remains fully committed to cooperating with the MACC in relation to the ongoing investigations.

Earlier, it was reported that eight individuals were detained to assist investigations into the freezing of several bank accounts belonging to Padini and its subsidiaries, with the MACC saying the probe is ongoing and the company’s assets would remain frozen.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the investigation was ongoing, with statements already recorded from 10 individuals, while another 15 people would be tracked down to assist the probe.
