ManagePay wins ECRL payment system contract

KUALA LUMPUR: Managepay Systems Bhd (MPay) has secured a contract to develop and implement an open payment system for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL).

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the group said its wholly-owned unit, ManagePay Services Sdn Bhd, had received and accepted a letter of award from ECRL Operation Sdn Bhd.

The contract involves the supply, delivery, installation, integration, testing, commissioning and maintenance of the open payment system for the ECRL passenger ticketing system.

MPay said the project will begin with a proof-of-concept system to be completed within four months from April 15, 2026, followed by the full rollout within six months.

The group will be paid through merchant discount rates on transactions processed under the system over a 60-month period, with a possible extension.

The ECRL is a 665km rail network linking the east and west coasts of Peninsular Malaysia, with operations scheduled to start in January 2027.

MPay expects the contract to contribute positively towards the earnings and net assets per share of the company for the financial year ending June 30, 2027 and onwards.
