Varia subsidiary bags RM293mil sewerage deal


PETALING JAYA: Varia Bhd has secured a RM293.3mil sub-contract for sewerage infrastructure works in Pasir Gudang, Johor, through its wholly owned unit, Pembinaan Teguh Maju Sdn Bhd.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, the group said its subsidiary had accepted a letter of award from RSM Builders Sdn Bhd for the upgrade of the PSG024 plant into a regional sewage treatment facility, along with the construction of sewerage pipelines and rationalisation works in the Sungai Kim Kim West sub-catchment.

The subcontract covers the supply of labour, materials, equipment and machinery for the construction and completion of sewerage lines and a conveyance system under a design-and-build arrangement.

The contract spans 55 months, commencing April 24, 2026, with completion slated for Nov 30, 2030.

Varia said the project is expected to contribute positively to earnings over the contract period, without affecting its share capital or shareholding structure.
