Berjaya Sompo appoints Soo Wai Har as CEO beginning April 1


New Berjaya Sompo Insurance CEO Soo Wai Har.

PETALING JAYA: Berjaya Sompo Insurance Bhd has appointed Soo Wai Har as its chief executive officer, effective April 1, 2026.

She succeeds Tan Sek Kee, who is retiring after leading the company since 2017.

Tan will remain with Berjaya Sompo until June 2026 to ensure a smooth transition.

Soo brings over 30 years of experience across global insurance firms.

Moreover, she is expected to drive the group’s sustainable profitability, scale and capabilities in Malaysia as a key Asia Pacific (Apac) market.

At the same time, the move is projected to support the group’s regional growth and operational excellence.

Based in Kuala Lumpur, she will report to Apac chief executive officer, Insurance, Kenneth Reilly.

She is a chartered accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
