Master Tec unit secures RM10.5mil transmission subcontract

PETALING JAYA: Master TEC Group Bhd's (MTG) subsidiary Sediacom Sdn Bhd has accepted a contract from an undisclosed company to undertake sub-contract works worth RM10.5mil.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, MTG noted the work scope is for the design, supply, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of 275kV transmission underground cables and a 275kV TNB switchyard extension at Pencawang Masuk Utama (PMU) Bukit Tarek.

The subcontract works are for an interconnection facility and transmission lines for a large scale solar 5 Petra at Bestari Jaya to 275kV PMU Bukit Tarek, Hulu Selangor in Selangor.

The works shall commence upon the issuance of written approval by the client granting access to the project site with works to be completed within six months.

Chief executive officer Tee Kok Hwa said the project reflects the increasing investment in transmission infrastructure required to support Malaysia’s renewable energy ambitions.

"We are pleased that Sediacom has been entrusted with this critical scope of works, which leverages our technical capabilities in high-voltage cable systems and grid infrastructure. As the country accelerates the deployment of large-scale solar projects, we see growing opportunities for Master Tec to contribute to the strengthening and expansion of the national grid," he said in a statement.
