PETALING JAYA: TDM Bhd
's unit TDM Plantation Sdn Bhd has appointed Terengganu Dredging Sdn Bhd as its contractor for the oil palm field rehabilitation pilot project at Kemaman.
The contract value is at RM7.65mil and it is deemed a related party transaction in view of the intersecting interests of a common shareholder and director.
The company said in its Bursa filing that Menteri Besar, Terengganu (Incorporated) is the interested major shareholder and YBM Tengku Seri Bijaya Raja is the interested director.
The oil palm field rehabilitation works aim to maximise oil palm planting density through various land preparation and oil palm planting works, it said.
"The project sites are currently affected by stunted oil palm growth, a critically low stand count averaging 81 palms per hectare, and limited accessibility due to collapsing terraces and estate roads.
“These constraints have resulted in significantly depressed performance, with the sites recording an average fresh fruit bunch yield of only 9.7 tonnes per hectare in 2025," it noted.
"Without corrective intervention, the affected areas are expected to become increasingly inaccessible and eventually abandoned, heightening the risk of pest infestations and further diminishing TDM's asset value," it added.
