SD Guthrie, Selangor MB Inc ink MoU to explore 5,000-acre Carey Island development


PETALING JAYA: SD Guthrie Bhd and the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation) have signed a memorandum of understanding exploring a strategic collaboration for integrated development in Carey Island.

In a joint statement, the parties said the MOU establishes a framework for both parties to conduct feasibility studies and develop master planning for a minimum of 2,500 acres, with potential expansion up to 5,000 acres within Carey Island Estate.

“The proposed development in Carey Island will form a critical component of the proposed Third Port initiative, the Carey Island Port, within the Carey Island Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

“This will also reinforce the positioning of the SEZ as a catalytic economic hub, enabling the generation of high‑value economic activities on Carey Island while supporting the broader growth agenda for Southern Selangor.”
