PETRONAS launches MBR 2026 to boost investment

Petronas said this year’s MBR introduces nine exploration blocks across Malaysia.

KUALA LUMPUR: Petroliam National Bhd (PETRONAS), through the Malaysia Petroleum Management, has launched the Malaysia Bid Round 2026 (MBR 2026).

Themed “Advantaged Energy: Accelerating and Shaping Tomorrow”, the MBR aims to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a premium investment destination.

In a statement, it said this year’s MBR introduces nine exploration blocks across Malaysia.

“The portfolio presents a balanced mix of opportunities, featuring a high-impact exploration block in the frontier Sandakan Basin, high-potential exploration blocks in the emerging West Sarawak Basin and near-field exploration blocks with new play ideas in the mature Malay Basin.”

PETRONAS added that investors and solutions providers are presented with opportunities to leverage the extensive technical information, enabling resource development platform and phased-development options, which enable early monetisation and near-term value creation.

It shows strong industry momentum and ecosystem activation. — Bernama
