MSM Malaysia appoints Mazatul ’Aini as group CEO


KUALA LUMPUR: MSM Malaysia Holdings Bhd has appointed Dr Mazatul 'Aini Shahar Abdul Malek Shahar as its group chief executive officer, effective Feb 4, 2026.

Mazatul, 53, brings about 30 years of leadership experience spanning transformation and turnaround management, business leadership and strategic fundraising.

She previously served as chief financial officer of Cagamas Bhd and had also held the role of chief financial officer (CFO) at MSM Malaysia.

Prior to that, she was group CFO of Proton Holdings Bhd, where she supported the merger and acquisition process that led to Proton’s strategic partnership with Zhejiang Geely Group, including overseeing cashflow management ahead of the transaction’s completion.

Mazatul holds a doctorate in Islamic banking and international economics from the University of East London and a degree in industrial economics from the University of Nottingham.

She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, a chartered accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, and a certified credit professional with Institut Bank-Bank Malaysia.

She also has board and governance experience, having served as an independent non-executive director and audit committee member of 7-Eleven Malaysia Holdings Bhd and TH Heavy Engineering Bhd, as well as an independent non-executive director of IJN Holdings Sdn Bhd.

MSM said the board executive committee, established on Jan 1, 2026, will continue to provide guidance and assistance to the newly appointed group CEO until further notice.
