’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Pentas RE Sdn Bhd has signed a 21-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with an undisclosed entity for the development of a 25MWac solar photovoltaic facility integrated with a 40MWh battery energy storage system in Daerah Kuantan, Pahang.
In a statement, Pekat stated the entity is an industrial off-taker mainly involved with heavy industrial manufacturing and sale of industrial products, as well as the provision of transportation services.
The entity cannot be named because of confidentiality obligations.
Under the PPA, Pentas RE will design, build, own and operate the facility for 21 years and its value based on the projected revenue to be generated, is RM239mil.
Pekat Group chief executive officer, Tai Yee Chee said this project will enable the group to showcase its capability in delivering clean energy, but also strengthen its position in the market.
“By enabling our customers to lower maximum demand charges while adopting renewable energy solutions, we are delivering both economic and environmental value. The project also reflects the growing demand for integrated solar and battery storage solutions in Malaysia, and we are proud to support the nation’s transition towards a cleaner and more efficient energy system,” he noted.
