PETALING JAYA: The Asean–China–GCC Business Council has successfully convened its first working committee meeting via an online platform.

The meeting, which was held on Monday, was jointly participated in by the three founding organisations, namely the Malaysia–China Business Council (MCBC) representing Asean; the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade representing China; and the Federation of GCC Chambers representing the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

In a statement, the MCBC said discussions focused on preparations for the inaugural Asean–China–GCC Business Council Forum to be held in China, and reaffirmed the shared commitment of all three parties to further strengthen cooperation in trade, investment and industrial development.

“Participants agreed that the tripartite business council will serve as an important strategic platform to advance cross-regional business cooperation and generate tangible outcomes for enterprises.”

“The forum will bring together business leaders from Asean countries, GCC member states and China to exchange views on key areas of economic cooperation and to promote business matching.”

The MCBC said the establishment of the tripartite business council and its subsequent work plans have been communicated to the relevant authorities in China, Malaysia and the GCC, and have received positive attention and support.
