KUALA LUMPUR: EP Manufacturing Bhd said its wholly-owned subsidiary PEPS-JV (Melaka) Sdn Bhd (PJVM) has inked a framework assembly agreement and a related vehicle assembly agreement with XPeng Motors (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the group said the vehicle assembly agreement governs PJVM's assembly of XPeng's G6 and X9 electric vehicle models, including the extended range electric vehicle version of the X9.

Production of the G6 model is scheduled to commence by March 31, 2026, and the X9, by May 25, 2026. The end of production dates are anticipated to be Dec 30, 2027, for the G6 and 1Q28 for the X9.

The framework assembly agreement establishes the ongoing cooperation framework and grants PJVM a first right of offer for the assembly of three subsequent XPeng models, including the D02 and D03, on an exclusive basis.
