Sunway-REIT appoints Derek Teh as its new CEO

PETALING JAYA: Sunway Real Estate Investment Trust (Sunway-REIT) has appointed Derek Teh Wan Wei as its chief executive officer (CEO).

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said Teh, 47, currently serves as vice-chairman of the Malaysian REIT Managers Association.

“He brings over 20 years of experience in the property industry.

“Prior to joining Sunway-REIT Management Sdn Bhd, the manager of Sunway-REIT, he was the CEO of Sentral-REIT Management Sdn Bhd, the manager of Sentral-REIT.

“Previously, he held senior positions including as vice-president, properties at Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd, where he provided leadership and oversight for the development of various commercial, residential and mixed development projects.”

Separately, Sunway-REIT announced that acting CEO Ng Bee Lien has been redesignated as the group’s chief financial officer, following the appointment of Teh as its new CEO.

Ng, 52, was appointed as acting CEO on June 16, 2025.

Ng started her career as an auditor with Ernst & Young from 1994 to 1997.

Thereafter, she joined Muhibbah Engineering (M) Bhd in 1997.

Subsequently, Ng joined Sunway Construction Group in 2005 and spearheaded the group to its public listing in 2015.
