QL Resources 2Q net profit falls to RM116.23mil

KUALA LUMPUR: QL Resources Bhd posted a lower net profit of RM116.23 million for the second quarter of the financial year 2026, ended Sept 30, 2025 (2Q FY2026), down from RM128.28 million.

Revenue eased to RM1.73 billion for the quarter, compared with RM1.87 billion previously, mainly due to substantially lower fishmeal sales volumes following poor overall fish landings and depressed international fishmeal prices.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the agro-food producer said its net profit for the first half of FY2026 (1H FY2026) decreased to RM216.83 million, compared with RM235.71 million in 1H FY2025, while revenue fell to RM3.44 billion from RM3.49 billion previously.

Looking ahead to the next quarter ending Dec 31, 2025, the company said that despite subdued domestic consumer sentiment due to economic uncertainty and rising operating costs stemming from the sales and service tax, management remains cautiously optimistic.

It added that business performance is expected to remain satisfactory, supported by the diversified and resilient nature of its staple food businesses. - Bernama
