KUALA LUMPUR: United Overseas Bank (M) Bhd (UOB Malaysia) has announced a strategic partnership with Invest Selangor Bhd to help position Selangor as a top investment hub in Malaysia and the region.
In a statement, the bank said that under the collaboration, both parties will work to attract targeted global investors, facilitate market entry for multinational corporations, and drive the development of high-value, innovation-led industries in line with the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and Rancangan Selangor.
UOB Malaysia chief executive officer Ng Wei Wei said the bank is honoured to support Selangor’s growth ambitions, adding that the bank remains committed to helping global businesses seize opportunities in Malaysia and across the Asean region.
“Through this partnership with Invest Selangor, we will leverage our regional connectivity and industry expertise to facilitate foreign direct investments (FDIs), promote green practices and support the growth of high-value sectors in Selangor,” she added.
Meanwhile, Selangor State Executive Councillor for Investment, Trade and Mobility Ng Sze Han said the collaboration underscores the state’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for global investors.
“By working with UOB Malaysia, we are strengthening our ability to attract high-value investments that will drive innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth for the state and the nation.”
Invest Selangor chief executive officer Datuk Hasan Azhari said the partnership will provide investors with the support they need to succeed.
“Invest Selangor is proud to collaborate with UOB Malaysia to position Selangor as a premier investment destination. Together, we will help investors establish and expand their operations while contributing to the state’s economic transformation agenda.”
UOB Malaysia and Invest Selangor will jointly organise investment missions, conferences, and roundtable meetings in key markets in Greater China, Asia and Western Economies.
The collaboration will focus on high-growth sectors such as Electrical and Electronics (E&E), specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals, machinery and equipment, medical devices, renewable energy, and consumer technology.
Beyond attracting foreign investors, the collaboration will create new opportunities for local SMEs by connecting them to regional supply chains and enabling the adoption of green technologies and IR4.0 solutions.
