PETALING JAYA: Binastra Corp Bhd
has secured a RM305mil engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract from Bahru Stainless Sdn Bhd for a large-scale solar and battery storage facility at the stainless steel producer’s plant in Pasir Gudang, Johor.
In a statement, Binastra said the project marks its first solar and battery storage EPCC contract in Johor and involves a 65 megawatts-peak (MWp) solar photovoltaic system – comprising 15MWp rooftop and 50MWp ground-mounted installations – together with a 200 megawatt-hours battery energy storage system.
Managing director Datuk Jackson Tan Kak Seng said the milestone “turns our green energy vision into action” and aligns with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap and Solar Energy Self-Consumption programme.
He added that the system will integrate artificial intelligence for “smarter forecasting, real-time optimisation and predictive maintenance”.
