Aerospace industry targets RM30bil in revenue this year - Tengku Zafrul

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry is optimistic that aerospace industry revenue will reach RM30 billion this year, up from RM25.1 billion recorded in 2024.

Its Minister, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said the confidence was based on the current prospects and positive developments in existing projects and pipelines.

"The aerospace industry is showing rapid development,” he told reporters after the launch of MyAERO Summit 2026 and the 10th anniversary celebration of the National Aerospace Industry Corporation (NAICO) Malaysia here today.

In his keynote speech, Tengku Zafrul said the revenue of the aerospace industry last year which recorded RM25.1 billion, was the highest in the past 10 years, and supports 30,000 skilled workers in the aerospace ecosystem.

He said Malaysia has seen significantly new investments shaping the country’s aerospace landscape in recent years, include Airbus and Boeing’s expansion of their footprints and CTRM’s (Composites Technology Research Malaysia) leadership in composite manufacturing, supplying critical components to global original equipment manufacturer.

"All these reflect the confidence of both foreign and domestic investors in Malaysia’s growing capabilities as a hub for advanced, high-value aerospace manufacturing in Asia Pacific,” he said.

On MyAERO Summit taking place in June 2026, he said the summit will serve as an important international annual gateway to aerospace technology, business and talent networks, one that unites regional stakeholders, from global OEMs and local champions to policymakers, researchers and skilled talent.

"MyAERO Summit 2026 will also facilitate better engagement with small and medium enterprises and the rakyat. It is equally important for the general public to be aware of the immense opportunity in this sector, not only to foster better business-to-business engagement, but also to attract more STEM talent,” he said. - Bernama
