Southern Cable earnings up to RM32mil

PETALING JAYA: Southern Cable Group Bhd’s second quarter ended June 30, 2025 (2Q25) net profit surged 119% to RM31.6mil, fuelled by strategic expansion as revenue increased 33% to RM419.3mil on higher sales volume.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the group announced a first-interim dividend of 1.2 sen per share in respect of financial year 2025 (FY25).

The rise in revenue in the quarter was led by a 23.1% increase in domestic revenue to RM372.2mil, underpinned by buoyant demand in the power utility and construction sectors.

Overseas revenue surged by 261.8% to RM47.1mil, propelled by higher sales to the United States, the company noted.

The cable and wire manufacturer is investing RM40mil in a new high-capacity aluminium furnace and medium to extra‑high voltage (33kV to 275kV) production line in Kedah driven by growing domestic and overseas demand.
