Gamuda partners Hitachi Rail for Taiwan MRT project

Hitachi Rail said its involvement in the project would bring innovation to Taipei’s urban transit network.

KUALA LUMPUR: Gamuda Bhd, the main contractor for the New Taipei City government’s Department of Rapid Transit Systems, has awarded Hitachi Rail Ltd a contract to deliver its Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) system.

The contract also includes the delivery of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition solutions for the Xizhi-Donghu (Xidong)-Nangang-Badu (Keelung) mass rapid transit project, which connects New Taipei City and Keelung City in Taiwan.

In a statement yesterday, Hitachi Rail said its involvement in the project would bring innovation to Taipei’s urban transit network.

“The project will deploy our SelTrac CBTC technology, a modern signalling system that uses wireless communication between trains and infrastructure to enable more efficient and safer operations than conventional systems.

“The technology includes advanced communication features, a private cloud-based signalling platform and train control supervision to enhance overall system reliability and efficiency,” the company said.

Hitachi Rail added the system would be equipped with advanced telemetry and data analytics to enhance automation and predictive maintenance. — Bernama
