Key Asic wins RM13.1mil AI chip design contract

KUALA LUMPUR: Key Asic Bhd has secured a RM13.1mil artificial intelligence (AI) chip design contract from a leading technology company.

Key Asic, in a filing with Bursa Malaysia, said the leading technology company is involved in designing, developing, manufacturing and selling products containing semiconductor devices, without naming the company.

It said the cutting-edge AI chip will be delivered in six to nine months, with volume production to follow, unlocking recurring revenue. Designed for a five-year lifespan, the chip will power smart products set to transform global industries.

Key ASIC said the AI chip is designed for high performance with ultra-low power use, meeting the key demand in AI and edge computing for maximum power efficiency.

“The contract is likely to generate recurring income for the next few years,” it said.
