ACMF invites public feedback on ESG disclosure guide for SMEs

KUALA LUMPUR: The ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF) is seeking public feedback on the ASEAN Simplified ESG Disclosure Guide (ASEDG) for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) involved in global and local supply chains, ahead of a planned revision in November.

The public consultation, which follows the release of ASEDG Version 1 in April this year, will remain open until Sept 12, 2025.

In a statement today, ACMF said it welcomes feedback from all interested parties, including financial institutions, corporate reporters, and investors.

"Following the consultation period, the feedback will be consolidated and analysed for further refinements to the ASEDG Version 1.

"The ACMF expects to launch ASEDG Version 2 at the ACMF International Conference in November 2025,” it said.

The guide provides SMEs across ASEAN with a simplified reference to report environmental, social and governance (ESG) information to stakeholders such as customers, financiers and investors, aiming to help them meet the growing demand for ESG transparency, particularly within supply chains.

ACMF said the ASEDG streamlines and consolidates various global ESG frameworks, along with local guidelines from each of the ten ASEAN member states, into a set of 38 priority disclosures for SMEs to use as a reference.

"It is further categorised into Basic, Intermediate and Advanced, to differentiate the levels of sustainability maturity of each SME.

"The disclosures are applicable across all industries with different levels of priority, and SMEs are encouraged to determine the significance and relevance of these disclosures to their companies,” it added.

The ASEDG is an initiative developed and published by ACMF, a regional body of capital market regulators from all 10 ASEAN member states that promotes market integration, regulatory harmonisation, and sustainable finance.

The forum is chaired on a rotating basis, with Malaysia, through the Securities Commission Malaysia, holding the chair in 2025.
