LEEDS: Prime Minister Keir Starmer is scrapping NHS England, the body that manages the state-run health service, to bring its functions back under government control in the Department of Health and Social Care.

The axing of the arms-length body follows mounting criticism over productivity, with patient lists soaring in the aftermath of the pandemic and a growing number of hospital operators facing financial deficits.
