Broad global growth to lift semiconductor sector

TA Research reiterated its “overweight” stance on the semiconductor sector.

PETALING JAYA: Broad-based growth is expected for the semiconductor market this year benefiting local players following the sector’s highest-ever global annual sales recorded last year, analysts say.

Last year, annual global sales reached US$627.6bil, up 19.1% year-on-year (y-o-y) compared with US$526.8bil in 2023.

The record performance last year was primarily driven by strong demand for logic and memory products, fuelled by the growing adoption of artificial intelligence.

TA Research remains optimistic about Malaysia’s semiconductor sector, supported by steady growth in global semiconductor sales.

The research house reiterated its “overweight” stance on the semiconductor sector.

It also maintained its “buy” call on Inari Amertron Bhd, with a target price of RM4.10.
