Keyfield to acquire platform supply vessel for RM79mil

Keyfield group CEO and executive director Datuk Darren Kee.

PETALING JAYA: Keyfield Offshore Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Keyfield International Bhd, had inked an agreement to acquire a five-year-old Dynamic Positioning 2 (DP2) platform supply vessel (PSV) from Sinocommerce Harbour Engineering Co Ltd for US$17.6mil (RM79.22mil).

According to Keyfield, the cash consideration will be funded via its sukuk proceeds on top of about US$2mil of its own internal funds for additional capital expenditure.

Renamed as Keyfield Gratitude, the PSV will be deployed into Keyfield’s vessel chartering business for customers to transport materials and equipment between short and offshore platforms.

Group chief executive officer and executive director Datuk Darren Kee said Gratitude will make an excellent addition to the groups fleet as it can be utilised to fulfil such invitations to bid.

“We are confident that Gratitude will contribute positively to Keyfield’s earnings for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2025 and beyond. Gratitude’s technical specifications are ideal for both local and regional chartering requirements,” he said in a statement.
