Maxland unit inks 60-year lease for data centre project in Kulim Hi-Tech Park


KUALA LUMPUR: Maxland Bhd's wholly-owned subsidiary Maxland Data Sdn Bhd has entered into a 60-year lease agreement with Kulim Technology Park Corp Sdn Bhd (KTPC) for the lease of a 4.57-acre industrial tract in Kulim Hi-Tech Park in Kedah for a lease price of RM9.95mil.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the group said the lease term will commence on Dec 15, 2024 and end on Dec 14, 2094, with an option to renew for another 39 years upon mutual written agreement of the parties.

Maxland said it plans to establish a data centre in Kulim Hi-Tech Park.

Separately, Maxland announced that Maxland Data has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Global Data Centre Sdn Bhd for a collaborating on any proposed projects, specifically in the power industry.

"The MoU provides the opportunity for Maxland Group to enter into the business of data centre services provider through a partnership with Global Data Centre.

"Through the partnership, GDC will be the technical provider and sourcing off-taker," it said in the stock exchange filing.
