Xin Hwa says transport unit's vehicle operator licence suspended

KUALA LUMPUR: Xin Hwa Holdings Bhd has announced that its cargo transport unit has had its goods vehicle operator licence suspended by the Johor Bahru Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) for non-full compliance with the industrial safety code of practice.

The group revealed in a stock exchange filing that Xin Hwa Trading & Transport Sdn Bhd (XHTT) had failed to ensure that all goods vehicles under its operation are maintained in a condition deemed safe for use by the director general of road transport.

The suspension will take effect from Nov 13, 2024, to Feb 10, 2025, or until XHTT achieves full compliance with the Code of Practice for Industrial Safety.

"During the Suspension Period, XHTT will not be permitted to operate or provide any services using any vehicles covered under the terms of its Operator License," said Xin Hwa.

The group expects the suspension to have an adverse impact on its operations.

It added that it is taking immediate corrective action to ensure full compliance with the industrial safety code, and will submit a formal written appeal regarding the suspension.

"XHTT hopes to have the suspension lifted as soon as possible to enable the operations of XHTT to resume without compromising any safety standards," it said.
