SINGAPORE: Malaysia's biggest lender Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) said it had appointed Michael Oh-Lau as CEO and Tengku Ariff Azhar Tengku Mohamed as deputy CEO of Maybank Investment Bank, effective Monday.

Oh-Lau, who is also Maybank Investment Banking Group CEO since December 2022, will be responsible for growing the Malaysian business, reinforcing its position as the leading investment bank while driving regional leadership, Maybank said in a statement late on Monday.

Maybank Investment Banking Group is the investment banking arm of Maybank that comprises Maybank Investment Bank in Malaysia, and has a presence in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Hong Kong, India and the U.K.

Maybank added that Tengku Ariff will support Oh-Lau including managing client relationships and overseeing the investment management business.

Tengku Ariff was head of debt capital markets before being appointed as chief operating officer in December 2021 and officer-in-charge at Maybank Investment Bank in January 2024, according to the statement. - Reuters
