KUALA LUMPUR: Cyberview Sdn Bhd has signed three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with three companies to make Cyberjaya a global technology hub.

Chief executive officer Kamarul Ariffin Abdul Samad said the companies involved were Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd (PNSB), Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC) and digital infrastructure company Equinix Malaysia.

He said that through the MoU with SIDEC, Cyberview plans to advance the semiconductor sector by creating a research and development (R&D) centre as well as creating a training centre for graduates and engineers in the field.

"We want to make Cyberjaya an integrated circuit (IC) design hub for the semiconductor industry. We also want Malaysian graduates or engineers to raise their level to become IC and microchip designers and so on," he told Bernama at the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2024 here today.

Kamarul Ariffin said the collaboration with Equinix will further enhance Cyberjaya as an investment destination in the field of technology in Malaysia with an investment value of approximately RM1 billion.

"Digital economy requires digital infrastructure such as data centres. This cooperation is also in line with the desire of the state and federal governments to make the country a global technology hub," he said.

He said the cooperation with the three companies involved will increase high-paying job opportunities, especially in the Cyberjaya area.

"It is our (Cyberview) desire to create high income employment where we want to make the Cyberjaya area higher in terms of employment compared to other areas in Malaysia and also indirectly contribute to the development of the digital economy and MADANI economy," he said.

Meanwhile, also present at the MoU signing ceremony were Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Cyberview chairman Datuk Romli Ishak. - Bernama
