PAAB receives award for water industry contributions

PETALING JAYA: Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd (PAAB) has bagged the prestigious “IEM Award for Contribution to the Engineering Industry in Malaysia 2024” from the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Council, in recognition of its outstanding contribution to the water industry.

The conferment of the award was unanimously approved by the IEM Council, which conducted stringent ratings and judging based on PAAB’s capabilities and significant contributions to nation-building and advancing the field of engineering in the country.

The award was accepted by PAAB’s chief executive officer Zulkiflee Omar.

Zulkiflee said the award recognises PAAB’s pivotal role as the custodian of national water assets, with a primary mandate to construct, refurbish, improve, upgrade and repair water infrastructure and associated assets.

“It also highlights PAAB’s efforts in providing and ensuring the most economically viable and sustainable funding sources for water projects across Malaysia.

“Moving forward, PAAB is also deeply committed to integrate environmentally friendly approaches into all facets of its operations, with a particular focus on engineering and construction practices aligning with the Malaysian government’s vision for achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.”

The IEM’s Award for Contribution to the Engineering Industry in Malaysia is conferred annually to recognise significant achievements.
