SunCon bags RM747.8mil data centre contract


KUALA LUMPUR: Sunway Construction Group Bhd (SunCon) has been awarded a RM747.8mil contract from a US-based multinational technology corporation for the construction and completion of a data centre located in Selangor.

The construction group, in a filing with Bursa Malaysia, said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd (SCSB) entered into a project services request (PSR) from the US company.

“The total lump sum price for the works is RM747.8mil inclusive of withholding taxes, sales and service tax and all taxes,” it said.

The works are scheduled to commence no later than the estimated start date of May 15, 2024 and the works will be divided in four sections, each with designated completion dates. The final section is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2027.

SunCon expects the contract to contribute positively to its earnings for the financial year ending 2024 onwards.

As of today, SunCon froup’s total outstanding order book stands at RM6.9bil, with total new projects secured by SunCon Group this year including this contract amounting to RM1.6bil.
