KUALA LUMPUR: CelcomDigi Bhd is moving forward with integration efforts as it seeks to further unlock the synergies and benefits envisioned from the merger.

"It will be an exciting year for CelcomDigi as we move deeper into our integration efforts and strengthen our market leadership by being a brand that Malaysians can trust and rely on in the age of ‘digital-everything’," said CelcomDigi CEO Datuk Idham Nawawi in a statement announcing the telco's 4QFY23 results.

According to Idham, the group has completed 35% of its network integration and modernisation target, ahead of its initial 30% target by end-2023.

During the quarter, CelcomDigi invested RM1.01bil in capital expenditure (capex), bringing total capex to RM1.75bil, which translates into a capex intensity of 13.8% in FY23

"The company managed to optimise capex efficiencies while pushing ahead on prioritised network and IT integration initiatives," said Idham.

In 4QFY23, CelcomDigi registered a profit after tax (PAT) of RM439mil.

Comparatively, the group's net profit in 4QFY22 would have stood at RM507mil if including Celcom's results as if the merger was completed on Jan 1, 2022, and excluding merger costs and accounting adjustments.

Using the same parameters for comparison, revenue in 4QFY23 was RM3.28bil against RM3.31bil in 4QFY22.

Over the full financial year, CelcomDigi's PAT was RM1.57bil in FY23 against RM1.96bil in FY22 while revenue was RM12.68bil in the current year compared to RM12.51bil in the previous year.

The board of directors declared a fourth interim dividend of 3.5 sen per share, for a full-year payout of 13.2 sen per share.

In 4QFY23, CelcomDigi registered across-the-board improvements in its postpaid, prepaid, home fibre and enterprise segments, driven by enhanced 4G and 5G offerings introduced for all segments in the quarter.

Total subscribers increased by 466,000 year-on-year for a total of 20.55 million subscribers in FY23.

Blended 4QFY23 average revenue per user (Arpu) was RM41 while postpaid and prepaid Arpu stood at RM66 and RM28 respectively.
