Capital A makes leadership transition in digital portfolio


KUALA LUMPUR: Capital A Bhd has made changes to its leadership to upscale its digital business portfolio, which includes travel and lifestyle platform airasia Super App and fintech portfolio BigPay.

In a statement, the group said Capital A president of commercial Colin Currie (pic) has also been appointed CEO of airasia Digital while John Cheing has been appointed chief financial officer of airasia Digital and airasia Super App, effective March 1.

"I have full confidence in Commercial President of Capital A, Colin Currie to take the CEO role for airasia Digital given his past experience of leading adidas to record-breaking growth in the regional market he managed.

"He will be heading a competent team to create stronger synergy and a better user experience in travel and payment by forging a closer collaboration between the airasia Super App and BigPay platforms for the users within the Capital A ecosystem," said Capital A CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes.

He added that Cheing's experience as the head of investments for Capital A and his close involvement especially with the strategic planning of airasia Super App will also be beneficial in his new role as the CFO for airasia Digital.

"Both Colin and John will work closely with me to scale our digital business portfolio up," said Fernandes.
