KK Supermart to expand ops

KUALA LUMPUR: Convenience chain store operator KK Supermart & Superstore Sdn Bhd aims to invest RM75mil to open an additional 150 outlets by year-end.

Founder and executive chairman Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai said the company plans to open about 12 outlets per month with an investment of RM500,000 per outlet, bringing the total to 830 outlets nationwide this year.

“We don’t have any specific locations for the new outlets as we have already opened (stores) in housing areas, commercial centres and hubs like Terminal Bersepadu Selatan as well as hospitals and universities. Practically everywhere,” he told reporters after the launch of the Payung Rahmah initiative and the nationwide “Buy and Win RM1.1 Million” campaign at KK Supermart Terminal Bersepadu Selatan here today.

Asked why some 24-hour stores stopped opening round the clock, he said it is due to labour issues, which need to be managed well.
