Digi.Com proposes change of name to CelcomDigi Bhd

KUALA LUMPUR: Digi.com Bhd today announced a proposal to change its name to CelcomDigi Bhd following its successful merger with Celcom Axiata Bhd.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said the proposed change of name was in conformance with the company’s obligation under the share purchase agreement dated June 21, 2021 with Axiata Group Bhd in relation to the merger with Celcom Axiata.

"The board believes that the proposed change of name will give the company a new corporate identity that better reflects the company as a merged entity further to the completion of its merger with Celcom on Nov 30, 2022.

"The proposed name "CelcomDigi Bhd” was approved by the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) and the reservation for the use of the proposed name is extended to March 14, 2023," it said.

The company said the proposed change of name is subject to the approval of shareholders at an extraordinary general meeting to be convened at a date to be announced later.

"If approved, the new name will take effect from the date of issuance of the notice of registration of the new name by the CCM to the company," it added. - Bernama
