Imbalances in aviation value chain


The aviation value chain was negatively impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and airlines fared the worst. Although the tide is gradually changing, more needs to be done by the sector for sustainable profitability.

With lockdowns and travel restrictions, all sectors making up the aviation value chain suffered significant losses in 2020 and 2021 except for air cargo carriers and freight forwarders who saw yield rises given undersupply and sustained demand.
