LBS Foundations builds Hardship Scholarship Fund with Genovasi University College

LBS Bina Group Bhd has teamed up with Genovasi University College to set up its inaugural Hardship Scholarship Fund to help the hardcore poor.

LBS Foundation donated RM80,000 to the Genovasi Hardship Scholarship Fund for underprivileged students continue their tertiary education.

The donation was presented by Tan Sri Lim Hock San of the LBS Foundation’s board of trustees to Genovasi University College president Prof Dr James Nga, witnessed by Genovasi University College founder chairman Datuk Dr Siew Ka Wei.

As a reputable builder, LBS has always been a firm believer that education is at the forefront of the ESG framework and is more than just an impactful contributor to advance environmental and governance goals.

LBS Bina’s journey in supporting the needy was started by its late founder and chairman Datuk Seri Lim Bock Seng, whose passion to give back to the community inspired the establishment of LBS Foundation that is built on four pillars – health, education, environment, and community.

Education paves the way for a better nation by incorporating positive values and ideologies that can bring about lifelong impact on every part of the community.

In addition, education helps to develop one’s skill set – namely decision-making, problem-solving and critical thinking – and optimises quality of life and economic wellbeing.

“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest, this is a quote that I live by,” says Lim Hock San who is executive chairman of LBS Bina Group and LBS Foundation's board of trustees.

“I believe that education is the pivotal component that will bring the greatest positive impact to society and was what helped broaden my vision and elevated LBS Bina to what we see today.

“I am honored to be appointed as one of the fellowships of Genovasi University College and to be part of this very meaningful mission in reaching out to underprivileged students.

“Together, we welcome more organisations to come forward to be a part of this meaningful feat,” says Lim who graduated with first class honours in Civil Engineering from the University of Wales in Cardiff.

“I would like to thank Tan Sri Lim Hock San and everyone from the LBS Foundation family for these meaningful initiatives and contributions,” says Prof Dr Nga.

“We also hope more local conglomerates will team up with local institutions of higher learning to help the hardcore poor.”

This contribution marks the beginning of LBS Foundation and Genovasi University College’s journey to open up education opportunities to the community.

Genovasi University College aims to embed design thinking in all spectrums of society.

Genovasi places great emphasis in imparting critical thinking and interpersonal communication skills, while being up to date with the latest syllabus in today’s working world.
