Ranhill secures RM6.1mil contract from MSM Sugar Refinery


KUALA LUMPUR: Ranhill Utilities Bhd's wholly-owned subsidiary Ranhill Water Technologies Sdn Bhd (RWT) has secured a RM6.1mil job from MSM Sugar Refinery (Johor) Sdn Bhd.

In a statement, Ranhill said the contract was to install as well as test and commission an industrial effluent treatment plant upgrade at Tanjung Langsat, Johor.

RWT accepted the letter of award from MSM on June 8, 2022.

The project is expected to be completed within 12 months, starting from June 1, 2022.

The project will involve RWT providing civil and structural, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works, and testing and commission, which includes an 18-month guarantee from the date of the takeover of the plant.

The major upgrading works for the plant will involve the buffer tank, membrane disc diffusers system, dewatering system, backwash system for filters and drainage system.

Ranhill president and chief executive Tan Sri Hamdan Mohamad said: "We were awarded this contract through a competitive tender exercise undertaken by MSM. This contract is part of how RWT is progressively moving to become a regional leader in water and wastewater treatment that integrates and optimises innovative technological solutions. We will continue to leverage on our core expertise to secure new projects."

He added that this project also strengthens Ranhill’s credentials as a holistic water and industrial wastewater treatment specialist which includes the treatment of industrial effluent.
