Cenviro issues maiden green sukuk

Cenviro said the sukuk, issued under the syariah principle of Wakalah Bi Al-Istithmar, was in line with principles prescribed by International Capital Market Association and Cenviro’s commitment towards the sustainability agenda, particularly in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

KUALA LUMPUR: Cenviro Sdn Bhd has issued its first sustainability-linked sukuk of RM54.6mil in two tranches from its unrated Islamic medium-term notes programme of up to RM500mil in nominal value.

Cenviro said the sukuk, issued under the syariah principle of Wakalah Bi Al-Istithmar, was in line with principles prescribed by International Capital Market Association and Cenviro’s commitment towards the sustainability agenda, particularly in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
