N. American semicon equipment makers post US$3.72b global billings in Sept

Strong growth for semiconductors to continue, benefiting the manufacturers of the equipment.

KUALA LUMPUR: North America-based semiconductor equipment manufacturers posted US$3.72bil in billings worldwide in September 2021 (three-month moving average basis).

This was based on the September Equipment Market Data Subscription (EMDS) Billings Report published on Thursday by SEMI.

“The billings figure is 1.7% higher than final August 2021 billings of US$3.66bil and 35.5% higher than September 2020 billings of US$2.74bil,” it said.

Ajit Manocha, president and CEO of SEMI said monthly billings of North America-based semiconductor equipment manufacturers edged up in September to near the record high set in July.

“The ongoing growth in key end-market segments and silicon content continues to drive gains for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem including equipment,” he said

The SEMI Billings report uses three-month moving averages of worldwide billings for North American-based semiconductor equipment manufacturers.

Billings figures are in millions of US dollars.
