HL Assurance launches Covid cover for F&B outlets’ customers

“With the launch of Covid-19 Cover, our first-ever group policy for pandemic coverage, we have made it possible for F&B businesses to provide coverage against severe Covid-19 infection to customers who visit their premises,” Hong Leong Assurance said in a statement.

KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Leong Assurance (HLA) has launched its Covid-19 Cover, its first-ever group policy for pandemic coverage for food and beverage outlets’ customers.

It said on Monday, as more businesses gearing up to reopen their doors to customers under the guidelines of the National Security Council, the fear of contracting Covid when patronising their F&B outlets continues to linger in the minds of customers.

“With the launch of Covid-19 Cover, our first-ever group policy for pandemic coverage, we have made it possible for F&B businesses to provide coverage against severe Covid-19 infection to customers who visit their premises,” it said in a statement.

Customers of participating outlets will receive hospitalisation benefit of RM50 a day per life up to 30 days regardless of multiple in force insurance coverage under the same group policy or any other Group Policy issued by HLA when they are hospitalised due to Covid Category 3, 4 and 5.

They are also offered RM3,500 per life as compassionate benefit should they pass on within 90 days of diagnosis within the coverage period.

All they need to do is spend a minimum of RM40 at participating outlets and scan a QR Code at the payment counter to complete their coverage registration online, so that they can get protected effectively the next working day for up to 14 days.

Customers can also extend their coverage with each subsequent minimum spend at any participating outlets before the expiry of their coverage period.

HLA said its focus was that the health and wellbeing of our customers are adequately protected during this period of uncertainty.

“We believe this coverage will provide peace of mind to customers who wish to dine in or takeaway at their favourite outlets, while creating a much-needed boost to local F&B businesses,” it said.

The categories of Covid treatment as defined by the Health Ministry are Category 3: Symptomatic, Pneumonia; Category 4: symptomatic, pneumonia, requiring supplemental oxygen and Category 5: critically-ill with multi-organ involvement.
