KUALA LUMPUR: Oil and gas industry veteran Datuk Dr Ahmad Suhaili Idrus has been appointed chairman of the Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC).
In a statement on Friday, MPRC president and chief executive Mohd Yazid Ja’afar said Suhaili Idrus’ appointment is part of the agency’s strategic effort to provide additional leadership experience to support its growth aspiration.
“He is a highly respected industry veteran and his proven credentials will be a valuable addition to the board, ” Mohd Yazid said in the statement issued through Bernama. “We look forward to collaborating with Suhaili Idrus as we embark on the next chapter of MPRC’s journey.”
MPRC is an industry development agency under the Economic Planning Unit, Prime Minister’s Department,
Ahmad Suhaili assumed the role of chairman on March 1,2021.
He has spent nearly three decades in the downstream, and midstream oil and gas industry mainly with Shell.
He has also served in various senior leadership roles at Iskandar Regional Development Authority, PEMANDU, Aecom Malaysia and the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda).
He read mechanical engineering at the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology and obtained his MBA from University of Malaya.
He also holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Asia e University
He is also a Fellow of Chartered Management Institute (UK), Fellow of Institution of Mechanical Engineering (UK) and Member Institute of Engineers Malaysia.
