Former Telekom Malaysia chairman dies

PETALING JAYA: Former Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) chairman and renowned academician, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Mohd Rashdan Baba, died yesterday at the age of 85.

Mohd Rashdan was executive chairman (EC) of TM from 1987 to 1995, and non-EC of the group from 1995 until 1997.

He was also EC of Kumpulan Guthrie Bhd between 1982 and 1987. Mohd Rashdan was appointed as the first vice-chancellor of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia from Sept 1, 1969 to March 31, 1971.

He was also the first vice-chancellor of Universiti Pertanian Malaysia (Universiti Putra Malaysia) from 1971 to 1982.
