Trading ideas: Wah Seong, KKB, Bina Darulaman, Alam Maritim, ELK-Desa


KUALA LUMPUR: JF Apex Research expects Wah Seong Corp Bhd, KKB Engineering Bhd, Bina Darulaman Bhd, Alam Maritim Resources Bhd and Elk-Desa Resources Bhd to be among the stocks to watch on Wednesday.

The research house also expects IOI Corp Bhd, Sarawak Plantation Bhd, Leong Hup International Bhd, Matrix Parking Solution Holdings Bhd, Seacera Group Bhd and Sapura Resources Bhd to see trading interest following their latest corporate news.

Wah Seong’s 4QFY19 net loss widened to RM30.59mil from RM9.98mil in the previous corresponding period as affected by impairments while quarterly revenue contracted nearly 40%.

KKB Engineering's 4QFY19 net profit surged 2.66 times year-on-year to RM20.27mil from RM7.61mil a year ago, on improved margin on the back of higher revenue registered by both its engineering and manufacturing sectors.

Bina Darulaman has won a RM39.79mil contract from the Water, Land and Natural Resources Ministry to undertake construction works under the national non-revenue water programme in Perlis.

Alam Maritim has been awarded a work order worth RM28mil for the provision of anchor handling tug and supply for Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd.

ELK-Desa’s 3QFY20 net profit rose 22.3% year-on-year due to higher revenue contribution from the its hire purchase division.

IOI Corp’s 2QFY20 net profit rose 9.21% year-on-year, thanks to higher crude palm oil (CPO) prices.

Sarawak Plantation's 4QFY19 net profit surged 7.4 times year-on-year to RM8.68mil from RM1.18mil a year ago, on higher revenue and gains arising from changes in fair value of biological assets of RM1.8mil compared with a loss of RM4.6mil previously.

Leong Hup reported a 9.5% year-on-year drop in its 4QFY19 net profit, dragged by compressed margins at its livestock and poultry segment.

Matrix Parking Solution has proposed to undertake a bonus issue of 100 million new warrants on the basis of one warrant for every two existing shares held at an entitlement date to be determined later.

Seacera's major subsidiary Duta Skyline Sdn Bhd is being sued by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) for RM25.62mil in outstanding tax payments.

Sapura Energy has secured its first contract in Abu Dhabi via its partnership with Petrofac Emirates LLC, from the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), for the Dalma Gas Development Project.

Meanwhile, US markets ended mixed with the Dow and S&P falling and the Nasdaq eked out slight gains to extend its record high as Apple issued a profit warning as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

Earlier, European stocks declined on concerns of economic slowdown after Apple said it may miss its revenue forecast.

“Following the lacklustre performances in the US and Europe, the FBM KLCI could remain pressured with support at 1,520 points,” JF Apex said.
