Pentamaster earnings up on higher revenue

PETALING JAYA: Pentamaster Corp Bhd’s net profit for the third quarter jumped more than two-fold to RM17.1mil on the back of higher revenue recorded during the period.

Revenue for the quarter ended Sept 30, 2017, was up 30% to RM108.3mil mainly due to an increase in sales from both the automated equipment and automated manufacturing solution operating segments.

In a filing with the stock exchange, the group said the automated equipment segment remained its major revenue source.

The segment recorded a 21.6% increase in revenue during the period, mainly attributed to the continuous surge in demand for test equipment particularly the flagship test solutions in ambient and proximity sensors customised for the smart mobile device sector.

“Such demand was underpinned by the increasing volume and complexity of smart sensors in mobile devices resulting in the growth in demand and the revenue for this business segment,” it said. The automated manufacturing solution segment recorded a revenue of RM21.3mil, representing an increase of 126.6% year-on-year.
