PETALING JAYA: Rizal IL-Ehzan Fadil Azim has been appointed as Alliance Islamic Bank Bhd’s (AIS) chief executive officer (CEO) with immediate effect.

In a statement yesterday, AIS said that Rizal was taking over the helm from Fozia Amanulla, who would be assuming her new role as Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd’s chief business development officer for the strategic business development division with immediate effect.

Rizal has over 22 years of experience in business advisory, banking and finance, including in Islamic banking. He joined AIS in November 2012 as senior vice-president of strategy and business performance, and was appointed as its deputy CEO last year.

Before joining AIS, Rizal’s previous stints included those in Hong Leong Islamic Bank, EONCAP Islamic Bank, the Boston Consulting Group and Bank Negara.
